Introduction

To achieve personal growth, one needs to go through several stages. Four stages can be considered as different levels of understanding of self and others. In the first level, the individual needs to feel secure enough in themselves. They need to have a sense of right and wrong and have some form of control over their thoughts or feelings. They also need to have a sense of attachment with other people. The second level is characterized by a growing awareness of the separateness from other people and one’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. At this stage, there is also an increase in self-awareness as there is more focus on oneself as opposed to being more concerned about those around them. The third stage involves being aware of the need for change and growth. Individuals at this stage are usually more open to new ideas and experiences. Lastly, the fourth level is when individuals have a better understanding of themselves and can empathize with others. They are also able to take into account their feelings and thoughts before making decisions.
